As a consultant in the field of health and human services, I have written a number of reports. I have contributed Chapters to text books, and have frequently penned articles for specialty magazines. The following are a few reports or articles which may be of use to some of you.
On April 13-16, 2008, 189 people from all over the globe convened in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada for the first World Summit on Learning Disabilities. I was honoured to be asked to prepare the White Paper emerging from the Summit. A Call to Action was completed in December 2008. It has been tabled in Canada's Senate and in the Alberta Legislature. The report is available for you to download in either English or French. It is currently stored on the website of Foothills Academy in Calgary, Alberta. The Foothills Academy organized the World Summit.
I have always been frustrated by the lack of information on the number of people with learning disabilities. So, I response to that frustration, I created the report, LD by the Numbers. Using Canada Census Information and the incidence level of learning disabilities issued by the National Institutes of Health, I calculated the number of people in each province and territory in Canada who are affected by LD. (Note: You will be redirected to the LDExperience.ca website to access this report). The report was written in March 2010.
Please return to this page. I will be posting other articles or links in the days to come.
